Corstorphine Hill Walk
10:00 am

Come for a February walk on Corstorphine Hill to see which edible plants and mushrooms grow in Edinburgh this time of year.  We'll discuss edible and similar toxic species on a leisurely two hour walk, harvesting a few of the edibles along the way and finish with a tasty foraged food or drink sample.

Seaweed Forage
10:00 am

Early spring is when many seaweeds are at their best.  Bring scissors and we'll make use of the low tide to harvest some delicious and healthy seaweeds.

Afterwards, we'll look at some wild February greens and fungi, gather around and sample some of those foraged flavours in a wild food picnic..

Early spring is the time when many seaweeds are at their best.  Bring scissors and we'll make use of the low tide to harvest some delicious and healthy seaweeds.

Afterwards, we'll look at some coastal wild Early Spring greens and fungi and gather around to sample some of those foraged flavours in a seaweed packed wild food lunch.

Let's celebrate the arrival of spring and go to the beach!  Meet the dozen tastiest seaweeds growing along our coasts and some of the best springtime edibles growing in coastal woodland, grassland, and beach,  gather some edibles to take home, and finish with a fire and a picnic featuring these wild flavours.

Join me for a walk along the Almond river to identify, collect, and sample some of the earliest wild edibles of the year. I'll show you how to tap birch trees for sap  and introduce you to the surprising number of  mushrooms and greens that can be found this time of year. Finish off the experience around a fire with a food and drink tasting featuring the amazing flavours of February forageables.

Learn about the wild greens carpeting the riversides in spring.  Find our two local species of wild garlic and learn  to safely distinguish them from toxic look-alikes. Discover many other species of edible wild greens and fungi and bring scissors and a basket to bring home  wild garlic and other green treats after tasting a smalll wild food or drink sample to inspire your own creations.
