Summer Seaweed Forage
10:30 am

Come along to a late summer seaweed forage!  Bring scissors and we'll make use of the low tide to harvest some delicious and healthy seaweeds.

Afterwards, we'll look at some wild greens and fungi, gather around and sample some of those foraged flavours in a wild food picnic..

Let's spend a late summer morning at the coast! Bring scissors and we'll make use of the low tide to harvest some delicious and healthy seaweeds.  Afterwards, we'll look at some coastal greens and fungi, forage some seabuckthorn, gather around a fire (weather permitting)  and sample some of those foraged flavours in a wild food lunch.

Art Walk Porty Foraging Walk

Wild food chef and forager, Judith Lamb leads a short foraging walk through some of Seafield’s edgelands to explore edible food growing amongst our coastal ecologies. Join her to identify plants and taste some samples she provides on the walk

Equinox Celebration:
Mushrooms, Seaweeds, Seabuckthorn

Around the autumn equinox our shores are brimming with wild edibles; it's a perfect time to connect with nature through foraging. Seabuckthorn and a diverse array of mushrooms and seaweeds offers a bounty of flavors  Emphasizing responsible foraging practices  and wild food safety and culminating in a wild food picnic around  a beachside fire, we'll celebrate the season and the local ecosystem.

Summer Foraging

Meadowsweet and fireweed, sorrel and yarrow, giant polypore and ripe berries and fruit all beckon in August.

See what edible wild herbs, mushrooms, and flowers grow in woods and grasslands and  hedgerows in summer. Come along for a wander, bring a basket and scissors, and we'll collect some edibles and learn about which wild foods to find and how to prepare them this time of year. We will have wild food and drink samples to finish the course.

Collab: Ceramics, Forage, Feast

Togerther with Ceramic Artist Michelle Lowe we will explore the edible and decorative species of Vogrie Country Park, work with white earthenware ceramic clay to create gorgeous botanical bowls, and finish the day with a seven course feast and fire cooking demonstration featuring  foraged summer flavours and clay.

Art Walk Porty Beach Cooking Event 6pm

Join us in celebrating the end of this year’s Art Walk Porty Festival with some wonderful beach cooking from wild chef forager, Judith Lamb.

Autumn Woods

During our foraging walk at Almondell Country Park, we’ll harvest the beautiful wild autumn bounty. We’ll walk through the mixed woodlands and along the river meadows, and discover which plants and mushrooms we can find. We’ll discuss identification features, responsible foraging practices, preparation suggestions, and, of course, similar looking toxic and inedible species. Suitable for all ages and skill levels and will include a picnic to sample food and beverages brimming with foraged flavours.

Summer Walking Lunch

Explore with me summertime on Corstorphine Hill.  We will take a gentle walk through August woods and meadows, look at the edible and toxic wild plants and fungi that are emerging this time of year, discuss foraging laws, ethics, and safety, and taste the wild flavours we encounter in a minimum of fifteen delicious and surprising food and drink samples.

At our Summer Foraging Course in Beecraigs Country Park, we will delve into the rich variety of summer plants and mushrooms. Topics will include identification characteristics, sustainable foraging methods, culinary preparation tips, and awareness of toxic and inedible counterparts. This course is designed for participants of all ages and experience levels and features samples of wild food and beverages.
