Summer Seaweed Forage

Come along to a late summer seaweed forage! Bring scissors and we'll make use of the low tide to harvest some delicious and healthy seaweeds.
Afterwards, we'll look at some wild greens and fungi, gather around and sample some of those foraged flavours in a wild food picnic..

Meadowsweet and fireweed, sorrel and yarrow, giant polypore and ripe berries and fruit all beckon in August.
See what edible wild herbs, mushrooms, and flowers grow in woods and grasslands and hedgerows in summer. Come along for a wander, bring a basket and scissors, and we'll collect some edibles and learn about which wild foods to find and how to prepare them this time of year. We will have wild food and drink samples to finish the course.

Togerther with Ceramic Artist Michelle Lowe we will explore the edible and decorative species of Vogrie Country Park, work with white earthenware ceramic clay to create gorgeous botanical bowls, and finish the day with a seven course feast and fire cooking demonstration featuring foraged summer flavours and clay.

During our foraging walk at Almondell Country Park, we’ll harvest the beautiful wild autumn bounty. We’ll walk through the mixed woodlands and along the river meadows, and discover which plants and mushrooms we can find. We’ll discuss identification features, responsible foraging practices, preparation suggestions, and, of course, similar looking toxic and inedible species. Suitable for all ages and skill levels and will include a picnic to sample food and beverages brimming with foraged flavours.
